I.C.U Sea Kayaking Courses

Level 1 - 2 ICU Sea Kayaking

This is a 2 day introductory course and assessment. It is geared to people with very little or no sea kayaking experience. We would hope that paddlers would then go on to attain their Level 3 and 4 certificates at a later date. During the 2 days we will cover paddling technique, weather and tides, safety procedures, and choosing a kayak.
Assessment for certification on second day.
Price: €150.

Level 3 ICU Sea Kayaking

This is a 2 day introductory course and assessment. It is geared to people with a Level 2 ICU Sea Kayaking Certification or equivqlent, kayaking experience. We would hope that paddlers would then go on to attain their Level4 certificates at a later date. During the 2 days we will cover paddling technique, weather and tides introduction to navigation, safety procedures, and choosing a kayak.
Assessment for certification on second day.

Level 4 Proficiency

For people with at least a level 3 ICU certificate or equivalent. This is a 2 day intensive course including lectures, lots of water work, navigation, tidal reading, paddling technique, rescues, towing and weather effects. After competing this weekend, people going for their level 4 certificate will have to log certain trips and arrange a later assessment.

I.C.U. Level 5 Proficiency

This course is for experienced paddlers and covers three weekends - one for training, and one for assessment. Contact us to arrange this course

I.C.U. River Kayaking Courses

Level 1 - 2 ICU River Kayaking

This is a 2 day introductory course and assessment for beginners. It covers paddling technique in river kayaks, safety procedures and equipment
Price: €150

Level 3 ICU River Kayaking

This 2 weekend course is for competent river paddlers. It takes place on Grade 2 moving water, and covers ferry gliding, breaking in and out of current, rescues and river reading.
Asessment at a later date.
Price per weekend: €150

Level 1, 2, 3 ICU River Kayaking Instructor/Coaching Courses

This is for people who wish to instruct and coach in river kayaking. Please contact us to arrange this course.

I.C.U. Level 1, 2, 3 And 4 Instructor/Coaching Courses.

We run training two day courses for ICU Instructors. Candidates must have an ICU personal proficiency at least one level above the Instructorship they are going for. After attending the training course candidates will then have to fulfil the requirements on their log books before applying for assessment.
