We need a minimum number of 4 people to run this course.
Feel safe at sea. Know where you are, where your going and how to get there.
This one-day course introduces paddlers to navigation for sea kayaking.
Programme
10.00am Registration.
10.30am –1.00pm.
Introduction off the water
We will be learning about compasses, charts, relevant chart symbols, OS maps, tidal streams,
Basic trip planning. How to measure distance and time on a trip.
1.00am – 2.00pm Lunch
2.00pm –4.00pm.
We now take to the water and put all of our new skills to the real test.
How to take a bearing while in a kayak
How to follow a bearing from a kayak
Using transits and feature to help navigate.
Timing and reckoning our speed.
We will finish the day with a debriefing. |
