About Us

dolphins
At Atlantic Sea Kayaking we take pride in our kayaking. We are Ireland’s premier sea kayaking company, and have been established since 1995. We care about YOU, our clients and believe you deserve the best.

Environmental Philosophy .
The Environmental Policy of ASK is to respect, enjoy and protect the unique environment in which we work. We are conscious of being guardians of the marine habitat, and use our knowledge of the local environment in order that all our fellow kayakers appreciate not just its beauty, but also its fragility.

We are fortunate to enjoy one of the most beautiful marine environments in the world in which to plan and undertake our journeys. But we know that for others to enjoy this special place, we must respect and protect it, and carry out our work in such a way that we enhance, rather than harm or deplete, its sustainability and its beauty.

Protecting the habitat means that we enjoy it at its most pristine and beautiful best, and we know that those coming after us will benefit from it as well.

Maria Kennedy

Maria is the brains behind Atlantic Sea Kayaking. She has set up our international trips, and when she is not on the water herself, is often to be found doing triathalons or leading walking trips in other countries. She was part of a successful, entirely female, ascent of Kilimanjaro in Africa. She thrives on adventure. Maria’s latest trip was a walking trip in Cabo De Gato in Spain. She also successfully completed the Liffey Descent canoe race in 2009 for her 5th time.

Pat McCarthy
We are lucky enough to have had Pat with us since the beginning. He is an Irish Canoe Union instructor, is meticulous in his trip planning and teaching – as our clients often let us know. Pat is now growing his own produce and living the Green Life. He is our rolling and surfing expert and is the guide most frequently requested by our clients.

Kathy Kerwin

Kathy has taught Physical Education at second level for the past 10 years. She has sailed across the Atlantic on three separate occasions. Kathy is an outdoor enthusiast and loves the water. She is also our map expert. When Kathy is not kayaking she travels the roads of West Cork with her husband Pa on their hybrid bikes. She has been assisting on our trips for some years now, and this year is sharing the office work with Sally.

Sally McKenna

Sally joined us last year, and has won the hearts of our clients. She has graduated from the Schull Community College outdoor education programme, and is an aspirant Irish Canoe Union instrutor. Sally runs her own publishing company, which she set up with her husband John. She has successfully completed the Liffey Descent kayak race, and has also completed the now famous Ocean to City kayak race in Cork. She is also our astronomy expert, and a joy to be with on our night trips.

Colin Wong

What can be said about Colin? Follow the link at the end of this piece, and it says it all. Over the past few years Colin has grown to love sea kayaking as well as river, and is a great guide. He is our river and playboat expert, leading our trips and is also an Irish Canoe Union Instructor. Colin is presently doing a degree course in order to become a Physical Education teacher. He is a fitness fan. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slMu0PNnq7E

Jessie Kennedy

Jessie is an all rounder, kayaker/office/driver… in fact, when there is a crisis, Jessie is there to fill the gap. She has completed the Liffey Descent race, and has been assisting and running many of our trips. As well as being a kayaker and a triathalon swimmer, Jessie is a singer/songwriter, and is releasing her first album in July. Check out http://www.myspace.com/jessiejkennedy
