Full Day West Cork Coastal Kayaking Adventure. |
|
This offshore marine adventure takes us gliding gracefully along the coast. The full day paddle includes a stop off on a remote beach, where we have our lunch (bring a picnic), perhaps with a fresh mackerel caught on the way over (depending on the season) which we can barbecue or smoke. Giving yourself the whole day allows you to go deeper into the experience of sea kayaking and experience the unique feeling of embarking on sea journey, under your own steam.
This is an unbeatable experience. The full day paddle includes the fun of rock hopping and a chance to see some of the off-shore birds and marine life of these waters, including, occasionally, dolphins and whales. It is very rare to be able to get so proximate to unmediated nature, paddling the coastline allows you to form a direct communication between you and this remarkable environment.
Duration:10am and lasts till 4pm, and is suitable for all levels. Price: €95 p/p.

Testimonial from Geoff Murray, Tasmania
"Forward paddling is the one thing that most paddlers want to improve and yet it is so hard to know when you have got it right and what you could do to improve it. It is all about efficiency of movement and at last we have a resource available to suit sea kayakers.
"Jim Kennedy of Atlantic Sea Kayaking is well qualified to give advice on using your body as efficiently as possible to move your kayak forward. He has a whole list of accomplishments to his name including being the Irish and British national sprint and marathon kayak champion so he knows a thing or two about forward paddling. The difference with Jim is that he knows what a sea kayaker needs rather than a racer. Efficiency over a long period of time is more important to a sea kayaker than all out speed in a sprint.
"Jim has recently started an online service where he evaluates a video of a paddler, then provides two further evaluations as the paddler puts his suggestions into practice. This is far more valuable than a single evaluation as some sprint coaches currently provide.
"The service is very reasonably priced and I have found his advice to be concise and truly worthwhile. I have been attempting to improve my forward stroke for some years and there is always some one willing to give advice but the problem is, that advice is often wrong. Here we have a resource available that can be relied upon to be correct and I can see it being utilised by a lot of paddlers." |

West Cork night time Kayaking Tour. |
|
One of our most magical and popular kayaking experiences, a moonlight / starlight paddle starts one hour before darkness. This gives your eyes and brain a chance to adjust, and a little time to get used to the kayak. You'll be surprised how easy it is to navigate your way around. There is always something to make you gasp on the moonlight / starlight kayak trip, whether it be the silhouette of the seabirds on the bank, the red sunset, the whole panoply of stars overhead, the moonlight reflected on the water, or, at certain times of year, the astonishing bio-luminescence. This is a light emitted by marine life, which, from the paddler’s point of view, causes the water to light up around your paddle in 1,000 tiny lights.
