Full Day Coastal Kayaking Adventure

This offshore marine adventure takes us gliding gracefully along the coast. The full day paddle includes a stop off on a remote beach, where we have our lunch (bring a picnic), perhaps with a fresh mackerel caught on the way over (depending on the season) which we can barbecue or smoke. Giving yourself the whole day allows you to go deeper into the experience of sea kayaking and experience the unique feeling of embarking on sea journey, under your own steam.

Paddle from day to Night

A very special experience on the water. We begin our trip in the evening and paddle right up to sunset after a break at some remote area for a picnic we then paddle right through the dusk into the night time and darkness . Where we become nocturnal kayakers and melt into the stars and the phosporence.

The Half Day trip is an ideal way to experience the wonders of sea kayaking. We specialise in trips that set out to discover our exceptional marine environment and enjoy it to its full, with its diverse and ever-changing vistas and experiences. The drama of our coastline is a magnificent thing to experience from a kayak, no other craft allows you to experience the coast in such an intimate way as on this spectacular safari.

West Cork night time Kayaking Tour

One of our most magical and popular kayaking experiences, a moonlight / starlight paddle starts one hour before darkness. This gives your eyes and brain a chance to adjust, and a little time to get used to the kayak. You'll be surprised how easy it is to navigate your way around. There is always something to make you gasp on the moonlight / starlight kayak trip, whether it be the silhouette of the seabirds on the bank, the red sunset, the whole panoply of stars overhead, the moonlight reflected on the water, or, at certain times of year, the astonishing bio-luminescence. This is a light emitted by marine life, which, from the paddler’s point of view, causes the water to light up around your paddle in 1,000 tiny lights.

Our Island Moonlight / Starlight trip is for experienced paddlers, or people who have kayaked with us at least once before. In this adventure we slip outside the bay and take a trip around some of the islands immediately off our coast.

This night time paddling experience is unique and not to be missed. The tour lasts three hours and represents an adventure that you will never forget. Starts one before darkness and lasts approx 3 hours.

A really unique, eco friendly and educational experience
If you are a beginner we quickly teach you the basics required to manage a kayak.
Using the kayaks we gain access to areas where sea weeds grow in abundance . We learn to identify then, how to SUSTAINABLY harvest them and during lunch time on some remote area we cook up some of the seaweeds we have found. What a TRULY natural organic food source we are surrounded by. This is a day of fun adventure and discovery .
With our expert guides the kayaking is safe and easy.

Kayak to a special, magical area to hear the Dawn Chorus.

Between March and the beginning of July, in the twilight before sun rise, beautiful bird songs fill the air of forests, hedgerows, parks and gardens throughout Ireland.
Bird calls can be heard at various times through the day. The sounds that create the internationally celebrated Dawn Chorus are different, these are called bird songs. Before the sun rises, birds cannot search for food as it is too dark. Instead they defend and mark out their territory, and attract female mates as it is the males who generally sing their unique bird songs. In parts of Ireland with a bit of careful listening you can pick out many different bird songs from a whole chorus. We are lucky in West Cork to have one such magical place. It is a sheltered inlet surrounded on both sides by woods and has a natural echo so the sounds are magnified. There is nothing more beautiful than to drift unobtrusively in a kayak and listen to the birds world wakening up with the dawn.
When we finish our trip Carol's Cafe in Union Hall opens extra early for us to have breakfast .
