Master the Art of Kayaking
Courses & Coaching
We have several different options for courses depending on where you are in your Kayaking development. These courses follow the Canoeing Ireland syllabus and we can currently run courses for the following levels.
More Information
These courses will take place over 2 days and will cover a variety of different modules such as shore-based trip planning, equipment knowledge, boat-handling skills, self and team rescues and environmental awareness. If you are unsure about which level is suitable for you. Please get in touch with us or visit the Canoeing Ireland website.
During this course you will be completing a ‘paddler profile’ which is a form of continuous assessment on various skills. When you have reached proficiency in a module, an instructor will sign off and when you have all the modules completed, you can apply for the relevant award.
This allows flexibility in your learning and means that you do not have to go through the stress of an intensive one- or two-day assessment and you can learn at your own pace. We will be able to sign off on some of the modules throughout the weekend and will be available afterwards for any follow up that is needed. We need a minimum of four participants to run these courses and they are subject to weather as each award scheme can only be granted in certain weather conditions.
Apart from these award schemes, we also offer tailored courses for groups or families as well as one to one coaching in skills such as forward paddling and rolling. For custom coaching sessions, please contact the office so we can better understand what you are looking for.
